OK, now this just makes perfect sense!
Years ago, I took a course that was extremely valuable in completely stopping my migraine headaches. I entered the class with a brain splitting migraine in May of 1986, and at the end of that day, the headache was completely gone without the use of any medication. Here is the honest truth. I have not suffered any kind or form of headache since that time, and we are now entering the year 2010. That course completely changed my life for the better. But here is the interesting part. I only used about 30 percent of the program in my personal life. The other seventy percent was either frivolous, non-believable or just a complete waste of my personal time because it simply did not fit into my own personal belief system.
Below you will find a fascinating article pointing out that a percentage of self help courses should be looked at with somewhat of a critical eye. I think that some folks that pay for and are constantly on the trail for self help courses may be paying too much, asking too little or expecting external change instead of finding the right people who can assist them in finding internal change. That was the path I was on as well. That’s why I encourage people to thoroughly check out self help adventures to see if they really need to be a part of your life. Now, here is where I may get some disturbing e-mails from people defending self help courses, and since I run somewhat of a self help blog on this site, I may sound a little hypocritical myself. I promise that I will delve into this subject further on future shows, and I will offer more thoughts on the subject.
