Crazy glue is the best (if your clumsy like me)

So, I love to tear apart printers and plotters. As a matter of fact, its how I used to feed my family. If your a road tech, and you need to work on a variety of machines, then there is something that you really need to have in your tool kit. Its crazy glue. And believe me, it certainly does work like crazy. Some of the large plotters cost thousands of dollars and if you work on enough, it isn’t Moores law that you have to be concerned about, its Murphy’s law. You can, will and (in my case) sometimes habitually end up breaking things, snapping parts, pull on the wrong piece of plastic and will hear that familiar ‘ting’ as the broken part fly’s across the room. In my experience I was fortunate. My eyes were always just fast enough in order to find the broken part that had separated from whatever I was working on.

With the broken piece in one hand, and a bottle of crazy glue in the other I would consider myself ‘invincible’ and would always be able to fix anything plastic that I had personally broken. I actually took pride in the fact that my clumsiness was just an opportunity to test the miracle of crazy glue. That is, until one day I accidentally glued myself to a printer. Thats right. In front of the head of the IT department no less! They were a forgiving lot. Oh sure, they saw my predicament. Knew that I had spilled way too much glue on the printer, watched me as the huge glob of crazy glue dripped down the side of the printer, onto my fingers and completely bonded the skin of four fingers to the side of the printer.

Then, these wonderful, caring, dedicated technicians invited me for coffee, knowing that I could not remove myself from the printer. Oh, they helped my out alright. One of them offered to go and find some finger nail polish remover so I could continue on with my day. Let me inform you that if you attempt to rip your hand away from a porous plastic on a printer, it can easily take many layers of skin off of your fingertips. Not good. Thankfully, a bottle of finger nail polish remover was borrowed from a nice staff member, but it still took me a good twenty to thirty minutes of dabbing the chemical on my fingers to break free. So, take it from one who has been there, done that, got the tee-shirt and used the glue all on the same day. Crazy glue works wonders, but just don’t try to multi-task at the same time you are holding the glue tube. Just another day at the office. Take care, stay safe, and go fix something! Regards, Rick.
